How to read blueprints and floor plans.

http://www.learningconstruction.com Step by Step tutorial about how to read floor plans and blueprints. A floor plan (floorplan) in architecture and building engineering is a diagram, usually to scale, of the relationships between rooms, spaces and other physical features at one level of a structure. Dimensions are usually drawn between the walls to specify room sizes and wall lengths. Floor plans will also include details of fixtures like sinks, water heaters, furnaces, etc. Floor plans will include notes to specify finishes, construction methods, or symbols for electrical items.

Similar to a map the orientation of the view is downward from above, but unlike a conventional map, a plan is understood to be drawn at a particular vertical position (commonly at about 3 feet above the floor). Objects below this level are seen, objects at this level are shown ‘cut’ in plan-section, and objects above this vertical position within the structure are omitted or shown dashed. Plan view or “planform” is defined as a vertical orthographic projection of an object on a horizontal plane, like a map. This video applies to a commercial or residential construction project.

  12. Just a quick note, arrows indicate the direction of rise in stairs. So the arrow that is labeled "DN 15 RISERS" at 5:30 should be turned around. Otherwise your stairs are running in to each other.

you have no idea how much i appreciate  you uploading this video.i should warn anyone thinking of getting a strata manger not to go with  Karina from progresses  strata management doesn't know how to read a floor plan. She even breached her contract over charging us She even tried to argue that the up stairs had access to my mother and is court yard when this video clearly states that the floor plan is other wise. i will send her a link to your YouTube video she seems to be to stupid to see on my floor plan that the upstairs wouldn't even have access to my court yard. The step are not even on the plan nor is there is a door leading to the back access.

  26. It will help if you assume that your viewer/reader does not know terminology. For example, "callout" here is a technical term. Before you casually refer to a callout, it it best to explain what a 'callout' is. That goes for all technical terms. Thank you.
