DreamPlan opens with a basic set of 3D models to use while designing your home and garden. Adding more models is easy using the Add Content button on the toolbar. You can select either Download Packages or Import 3D Models.
Download Packages gives you the option to download 10 or more models at once related to a theme, such as Kitchen Accessories, Cabinets and Islands and many more. We are continually adding more content, so remember to check this list occasionally or follow us on Facebook or Twitter to be notified when a new package is added.
If you have already added all of the content packages, but still need a particular 3D model to finish your design, use the Import 3D Models option. DreamPlan supports 3DS, STL and PLY file types. We recommend using archive3d.net as a source for 3D models. The majority of their models are supported by DreamPlan. If you do download one of their models, you will need to unzip the folder.
When the Import Model dialog opens, navigate to your file and click the Open button. You can reopen the browsing window by clicking the Load 3D Model File button. Once your model is open, enter all of the information on the right of the window. Give the model a name. This is the name that will appear in the Item list. Select a Category from the Object Category dropdown list. These categories correspond to the toolbars and toolbar buttons. Select an object type. Hover over the help icon to see a description of each object type and its properties.
Use the Axis Rotation text boxes to properly position your model. In the preview, the green line should appear to come out of the top of the model, the red line out of the side of the model and the blue line out of the front of the model. Click and drag with your mouse to change your point of view. Either enter a value in the Axis Rotation text boxes or use the arrows to rotate the model on an axis.
When entering a measurement, use real life measurements. For small objects, use smaller units. For large objects, use larger units. You will only need to enter one measurement in the Width, Height or Depth boxes. The remaining measurements will be calculated to keep the model proportionate. The Conversion Notes at the bottom displays warnings or specific notes related to your model.
When you are finished, click Import Model. The model will be listed in the category that you selected. Add it to your project as you would with any other model. Models are imported in as gray. You will need to use the Material boxes to change the color.

  1. Its very good to practices. . .

  2. I do everything like you say, but when I click on the model imported in my list… There is no object that shows like if it was invisible. I tried different models and scales, it happens on all of them.
