In this video we feature an Eco-friendly Shipping Container House in Pont-Péan, France. The Crossbox House by CG Architectes | Eco-friendly Shipping Container House in Pont-Péan, France. The Crossbox by the French Architect firm Clément Gillet Architectes is a 1,120 sq ft. eco-friendly prefabricated single family residence located in Pont Péan, France. This Crossbox House project is a prototype of a Three-dimensional modular and industrialized house, built using straight volumes four 40’shipping containers. Crossbox House prototype is the first of the B3 (Built by Boxes) concept by CG ARCHITECTES. The aim of this project is to build a low cost architect’s housing with high focus on Environmental issues. The home is elegantly balanced and maintains a small footprint. The pair of containers on the first floor level is covered in green tone cladding while the pair below is clad in shiny black. The use of colour on the volumes makes the house stand out from its neighbourhood. The roof of the lower pair of containers is planed with a green roof which is also accessible from the lobby and bedroom at the first floor level.

  1. What do you like about this House?

  2. I like the way they offset the top section and the finished exterior looks great! I wonder what it would look like if the ceiling and floor sections where the boxes cross were opened up to give the feeling of more space? Great design as it is though.
