Visitors to coastal British Columbia can enjoy ocean views from this small cottage on Bowen Island, just a short ferry ride from Vancouver. Other windows look into the adjacent forest of majestic cedars and Douglas firs.
The cottage has a simple rectangular floor plan encompassing roughly 600 ft2 (55.7 m2). Aside from the bathroom in one corner, it is essentially one open volume with a freestanding closet unit in the middle, leaving wide passageways between the main living space on one side and the bedroom on the other.
The kitchen has a galley layout, an efficient design that works particularly well for small kitchens. Instead of a separate dining area, the extra-wide peninsula includes an eating bar. Note that the eating bar is not raised above the work surface and there are also no upper cabinets, keeping the kitchen more open to the sitting area.
